The restoration project for the West Bastion is based on a partnership between the local authorities and the French Cooperation. At each stage of the restoration, there was a follow-up committee comprising the different partners who regularly met to establish the state of progress. This certainly allowed the on-site team to have a greater responsibility and problems to be resolved as they arose. One can therefore consider that this progressive and continuous evaluation is an integral part of the project.

At the same time, within the framework of a research project for the long-term protection of the wall against marine erosion, different UNESCO experts in passing through Essaouira have all expressed their satisfaction with regard to the quality of the restoration work undertaken. The UNESCO office in Rabat has expressed its willingness to make a financial contribution towards the implementation of other restoration work sites in the city.

Le projet de restauration du Bastion Ouest est basé sur le partenariat entre les autorités locales et la Coopération Française. A chaque étape de la restauration, il y avait un comité de suivi composé des différents partenaires, qui se réunit régulièrement pour faire le point sur l'état d'avancement des travaux.

Ceci a permis certainement de responsabiliser d'avantage l'équipe qui travaille sur le chantier et de résoudre immédiatement les problèmes qui se posent. On peut donc considérer que l'évaluation progressive et continue est une composante intégrante du projet.

Parallèlement, différents experts de l'UNESCO en passage dans la ville d'Essaouira, dans le cadre de projet de recherche d'une protection à long terme de la muraille contre l'érosion maritime ont tous exprimé leur satisfaction de la qualité d'exécution des travaux de restauration. Le bureau de l'UNESCO à Rabat a exprimé à cet égard sa disposition à porter une contribution financière pour la mise en œuvre d'autres chantiers de restauration dans la ville.
